The Story of Saturday January 23rd - Our Visit with Landon

Hillary and I started off our day with a visit to SJRMC to spend some time with Landon.  He's doing really, really well, so well in fact that we are progressing to the point where we are doing the steps necessary to get him ready to come home.  Not the steps to bring him home, but the steps to get him ready to come home.

Landon is completely off all breathing devices and is breathing completely on his own now.  He still has the monitors hooked up to him, and he still has the PICC line in him, and he still has the feeding tube running down his nose, but the breathing on his own thing is a huge milestone.

He is also now being fed the melon juice that Hillary has been taking to him.  They've increased his feedings to 20cc's of boob sauce every 3 hours and they are increasing that amount every other feeding.  So far so good.  The next step is to get him drinking out of a bottle, then the boob, then come home (fingers crossed).  The reason that they need to get him on the bottle before the boob is that his whole suck, swallow, breathe mechanism needs to be worked out.  So good news on the Landon front today.

Here's a couple of pictures of us with Landon.....

And check out this video of the cutest little yawn you've ever seen.....

We headed off to see Reagan at CHLA after this, that's the subject of the next post coming shortly.  I wish I could tell you it will be just as happy and chock-full of good news as this one, but I can't.  :-(

More to follow.
